Architectural Design Manager – Data Centre – Portugal

We are currently partnering with a multidisciplinary consultancy with a global record of successful delivery on a range of projects including, but not limited to, Data Centres, Recladding, Medical Projects, Nursing homes, Clinics and many more. 

Due to continuous growth, they are now seeking a well experienced Architectural Design Manager to contribute to a huge Hyperscale Data Centre construction project in Sines, Portugal.

Responsibilities

•    Architectural Design Review & Assurance
Lead the review of architectural designs at all stages, ensuring proposals are technically sound, buildable, and aligned with project requirements, data centre operational needs, and construction sequencing.
•    Regulatory & Code Compliance
Ensure all architectural designs comply with Portuguese building regulations and approval processes, including local planning requirements, fire regulations, accessibility standards, and relevant European codes.
•    Design Coordination & Interface Management
Coordinate with external designers, engineers, and specialist consultants to manage design interfaces, identify clashes or gaps, and drive timely resolution of architectural issues.
•    Support to Construction & Delivery Teams
Provide architectural input during construction, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and ensuring design intent is maintained while supporting efficient site delivery.
•    Quality, Risk & Change Management
Manage architectural design risks, review proposed changes or value engineering solutions, and ensure quality standards are maintained throughout detailed design, construction, and handover stages.

Requirements

Must have relevant Architectural/Design degree level qualifications
Must have 8+ years’ experience in a similar role on large scale construction projects (preferably Data Centres)
Must have previous experience/knowledge working with Portuguese building codes

Benefits

€100,000 - €120,000 + Excellent package + Hybrid working available
